Having been inspired by ‘folk’ performances/theatre
of his native place, Anand Gadapa’s subject matter
becomes narrative but with more of punnery infused in
it. The characters often are depicted as marionette,
being engaged in recreation at indistinct spacio-temporal
arena, mirroring the state of affairs in every day life
around him. The composition of figures demonstrates
the aesthetic/visual pleasure, where as, conceptually
they are not human figures but carriers of multiple
meanings. He deliberately makes an attempt to show the
ambiguity using metaphoric rudiments, gestures, and
the formulation of visual vocabulary. For him, painting
is not a mere concealed space or hidden treasure and
it inevitably records the precious insights of an artist.
