Artist Profile

Ekeshwar Prasad Hatwal was born in a village called Gadora (Chamoli) Garhwal in 1953. He studied at Garhwal University (D.A.V.P.G. College Dehra Dun) where he obtained his M.A. Applied Art with Gold Medal. He received 1991 the “All India Award” from the South Central Zone Cultural Centre in Nagpur as well as the “Rajasthan State Academy Award” in 1996.

Hatwal is not only an artist he is also an author. Besides his critical notes on Art and Artists, he also wrote the book “Vigyapankala” published 1989 by the Rajasthan Hindi Grunth Academy. His art collections are exhibited in several Indian towns: in New Delhi at the National Gallery of Modern Art as well as at the National Lalit Kala Academy; in Nagpur at the South Central Zone Cultural Centre Nagpur; in Lucknow at Rastriya Lalit Kala Kendra Lucknow, and finally in Jaipur at Jawahar Kala Kendra Jaipur, R.C.C.L. and R.L.K.A.

Ekeshwar Prasad Hatwal was a member of the General Council Lalit Kala Academy New Delhi (1994) and works nowadays (2006) as a lecturer of Applied Arts at the Rajasthan School of Art in Jaipur.
