Born in Kharagpur, West Bengal. Keeper, Art Gallery, Indian Museum, Calcutta. Member, Royal Society of British Sculptors, London. Member, International Institution for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works, London. Visited USSR, Mongolia, East Germany and Romania on Cultural Exchange Programme.

EDUCATION

  • 1931 Studied painting under the guidance of Kshitindranath Majumdar and sculpture under Girdhari Maharana, Indian Society of Oriental Art, Calcutta.
  • 1938-39 Studied under Prof. R. Wlerickat, Acadmie de la Grande Chaumire and Atelier Victor Giovanelli, Paris.
