STYLE
Much of Altaf`s work is too messy and undisciplined,
but it has certain puzzling power to disturb our eyes.
Painted with a consistent, but not always meaningful
crudeness, Altaf`s world is full of human beings in
a state of torture, their expressions often controlled
and bodies hanging or floating, as it were, in Limbo.
At their best these faceless figures have a fresco-like
quality; at their worst they amount only to some inexpert
draftsmanship.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
1977 Joined New Habib High School as Art Teacher,
Bombay. 1982 `History of India Through the Arts`, an
educational project, New Habib High School, Bombay.
1984 `Freedom Struggle`- 1857-1947, an educational project,
New Habib High School, Bombay. 1986 `20 Contemporary
Painters`, An Educational Project, New Habib High School,
Bombay. 1986 He has organised painting workshops at
Goa, which was sponsored by XAL Human Growth Centre
(Also in 1988).
